no problem donnie "travles" into the TU is he the only one is there in fact two grechtens and so on and in that case what happened to the other donnie. that's it he chose not to leave the same universe so one of the donnies had to die

Oh, that is better now I understand you and you are supposing and comparing that there is the Donnie that dies and the donnie that goes into the TU. You are not saying that they are two different, but they are two persons one that is just like donnies past even though when the TU ends he is destroyed too. Well they would both be like as I said not virgins because they actually had sex, but the physical act of having sex was destroyed with the TU so donnie that is killed by jet engine is physically virgin when he dies.

Just because he had sex with Gretchen in a tangent universe doesn't nullify the fact that it happened. Donnie smiles before he dies because he knows that he wouldn't die alone. He was with Gretchen, they loved each other and that is all he needed, so he died happily. Also, if the memory of his experience in the TU exists in the PU, then he must have had sex with her. The memory that exists is based on an actual event that existed at some time, so that even must exist as well.

Christian, I understand what you are saying, once done it has happened, yet here we went back in time in a place and time where those events had not taken place, so if there was any physical evidence, it would be undone, but it will remain in the mind.

The fact that Donnie and Gretchen are so completely and utterly in sync' as they decend the stairs surely suggests that their relationship had been consummated.

I don't know if this is going to make sense but I think Donnie goes back in time, so he has slept with Gretchin and dies having had sex. However, he has gone back to before he had sex with Gretchi so she is still a virgin. So technically he has had sex with someone who is now a virgin. This is a bit of a bizarre concept but thats the way I see it.

I think the reason for them hearing the mother on the answerphone throughout the scene is partly to highlight the link between Gretchin and Donnies mother...I think there is more to this relationship although I can't figure it out just yet. Also I think it is highlighting what donnie is about to give up (being with the girl he loves) to save his family.

people. I am not aware if this was already mentioned or not, but if you watch the deleted scenes on the dvd, there is a scene where Donnie refused to say anything embarassing further about himself until Dr. Thurman told him something about her. Once she finished telling him, she questions him on ever having "made love," at which point Donnie awkwardly changes the subject.

I'm such a buzzkill!  you guys'll hate me for this, but i gotta say it! The act of having your virginity defiled literally means to be penetrated in a sexual fashion. Therefore, not only is Donnie a virgin in the PU, He's a virgin in the TU! lol im really sorry for ruinin the joke! |

Maybe, but we are refering it to here as the act of having had previous sexual encounter/experience as in if that person has been invoved in any sexual penetration. So we are basically saying, if you prefer to see it this way, did donnie die without having sex or not?
