Even with out the whole tangent universe, Donnies sister would apperently be on the flight that lost its engine. So even when Donnie saves the world and all his loved ones.. wouldn't she die on either flight?

Nope.....think about the fire.

yeah, well the fire happened at the same time as the talent show, where sparkle motion was viewed for the star search so his little sister would have still been on the plane. So my question is... would his little sister die in both the real and tangent universes.

The way I see it, (spoiler?)
The plane engine came from the tangent universe not the real one, It came because of the rift that opened because Donnie altered time by not dieing.
in the real universe the rift never happens so the plane never loses it's engine and his sister remains alive.

Donnie's sister would not have been on that plane, as the only reason she was on that particular plane in the first place was because Donnie's mother was the chaperone, and not Kitty.

But wasnt the flight pre booked? So his sister would have still died but his mother would have been ok. The parrallel universe was doomed anyway, so i dont think anyone got out of that one alive. My head hurts.

I'm pretty sure the plane would've made a safe ride home if it not for the break in the universe.

If Donnie dies in the begining then there is no reason for the rift to open in the end of the movie. Isnt the rift the 'cause of the plane crash? If so then Donnies death would prevent the rift and the plane crash, no?

So, in conclusion:
The fact that the plane crashed means that the plane would never crash..
Ok... fine!

I think people are missing a simple point..........just coz the plan lost its engine doesn't mean it had to crash. Many planes lose an engine and survive. (Ok maybe not many but its more than poissible and has happened in reality) also even if the plane crashed Donnie sister may have been the only survivor anyway. I think it shows that she is also walking down he own path in life but what that path is and where it leads is never shown. She may die she may not, the film isn't about her.

Would his sister have been in a talent show when her brother had been killed a month earlier?
If so would they have rehearsed as much and therefore would they have won.
So the chinese lass would have been on the plane, er... or something.

But when the plane engine crashes the FAA people say that a plane didnt crash because it lost the engine because they don't which plane the engine came from and if a plane crashed nearby you would assume that they would be like yea it came from this plane that crashed....

Donnie used his powers to rip the engine off the plane so that its falling speed would be fast enough to create a worm hole back to the primary universe. So without Donnie that plane wouldn't have crashed. Secondly, Samantha Darko wouldn't have been on that plane. Rose Darko booked an earlier flight home on the 'Red Eye' (remember the red swirls on the engine propellor?) so either way the little sister would survive.

Donnie's sister would not have been on that plane, as the only reason she was on that particular plane in the first place was because Donnie's mother was the chaperone, and not Kitty. Why did so many people ignore this, it doesn't matter whether that plane crashed, at all. Donnie's mom called and said they were coming home early, which means a different flight, than the one that was planned.
