It's Christmas time and last night when I was at work it came on some music channel I was flicking through. First time I've actually seen the video on TV. It was actually a Christmas number one last year but I guess I was in a bubble or something because the first time I heard it was whilst watching Donnie Darko.
I also found a copy of Edward Scissorhands and watched it for the first time in maybe ten years, I was interested to see if it was still a good watch because sometimes you go back and watch old films and be like damn I remember this being a lot better (All Nightmare On Elm Street flicks for instance, I was so scared when I was 4/5 but I laughed at how corny they are now). And to my suprise it's still a decent flick.
I guess why I still like it is I can relate to Edward on a personal level being that I was also born with scissors as hands and Winona Ryder has a thing for me. ;D

Edward Scissor Hands is great movie, but it always for some reason reminds me of "The night before christmas" movie.

Brilliant. While in high school I talked the local video store owner (this is back when video stores were locally-owned enterprises, before Blockbuster and Hollywood snapped them up or put them out of business -- you guys remember those days?) into giving me their 6' Beetlejuice promo stand-up, which I then kept in my room for years following. Back on track: the soundtrack for Beetlejuice is fabulous, with an Elfman score and a couple cool tracks from Harry Belafonte (my favorite being "Jump in the Line").

Omni, I second your recommendation. LIE was a cool film. Of course, I'm probably biased, having grown up on Long Island (exit 51). Unfortunately, LI always seems to get a bad rap when it shows up in the media. Seeing the locations in the film was just great - the houses and developments are true to character, and I remember hanging out with friends by the same LILCO transmission towers (minus the darker goings-on in the film). And maybe I was just too young and naive, but that whole rest stop thing wasn't anything I knew about.
