My favorite song in the movie is "Mad World" and second favorite would be "Love Will Tear Us Apart." I'm a HUGE Joy Division fan and I really need to get some of Gary Jules' music! I don't like Tears for Fears' original version that much, it sounds too 80's-goofy-synth pop, which isn't bad but it doesn't fit the song at all to me.

I love Joy Division, too. Do you find it ironic that you love them but hate the music of their next iteration, New Order, which is pretty definitively "80s goofy synth-pop?"
I actually like them both, and have a fond place in my heart for the beginnings of electronica we find in that 80s alterna-synth sound.
edit: added missing word

A huge part of the reason why I love Joy Division so much is because the music is so sad and that element is definitely brought in by Ian Curtis, and New Order just isn't sad...I mean I don't only like sad music of course, but Ian Curtis' anguished voice and really sad lyrics are part of the reason I love Joy Division.

i like most of the donnie darko songs.
i can't really pick a favorite song but i guess out of all of them....it would have to be 7 nation army by White Stripes; that is the best song ever; or 2 timing touch and broken bones by The Hives.

Mad World just hits the spot. Just love that song. Listen to it once in awhile just because I love it.
I also love Head Over Heels. Wow that song is addictive. Everytime I hear that song I see Donnie Darko getting off the Bus and school starting. ;D

I agree with you.. Mad world is best... That doesn't mean I don't like the other songs, it's just that I seem to enjoy Mad World better...
