oh of course we can agree that it's an awful, needless scene... but i'm telling you, i swear to FRANK! the engine misses him. watch very carefully, you'll see it falls to one side of his bed (the side closest to the camera). also notice how in the impalement scene his bed is not disturbed... and if it landed on him... there'd just be no impalement scene.

That is why, if you see closely the death scene, he is just pinned down by the jet engine by the legs and a piece of floorboard lifted by the engine went right through him.
I think it is better the movie without that scene because when I saw it, I though, wow at least he had a peacfull thought before he died and suffered no pain. He was just asleep after laughing and a plane crushed his whole body. He had no time to react or feel pain. Contrary to my thought the impalement scene, where the piece of wood goes right through his heart, he is still alive and is still breathing if you see closely.
so to conclude, I am happy that that was not the official ending. It is good that it is an option in the DVD deleted scenes though.

I actually think that the jet engine pins his legs somehow and then he is impaled by the wood plank, but still that does not make it a neccesarry scence, specially because you can see he is still breathing eventhough there is an object sticking right through his heart!

I only saw this part of the film yesterday and I have to concur with Frank, that wasn't done very well in my opinion.

I don't think the scene itself was a bad filmed scence like it looks cheessy or fake or that, but I just wouldn't like it on the movie.

From the deleted scene, it seems pretty clear that the engine hasn't fallen on Donnie ... and it certainly hasn't pinned his legs (or any body part for that matter).
If we had a mod -- or mod rights -- I'd vote that we lock this thread. It's run its course.

That is just the most irrisonable/illogical thing I have ever heard. It's just outraguose, only a fool can say something like that. It is like saying that you are a human but withough human emotions/human qualities. If you are god without godly powers, you are nothing. Just like a human without emotions is just a body. No soul. [shadow=red,left,300]The airplane did pinn him from the legs![/shadow] Well maybe it doesn't appear to when you see the engine fall sidesways, but when he is just lying there breathing with that stick right through him, at least at that moment his legs are pinned. If not he would of just gone flying off!

Just one question, was the plank that crosses him, is it a floardboard, or a plank that fell from the roof?
