Okay, I saw it, and I'm happy to admit it's worth seeing.
The plot starts thin, but strengthens in the second half. Luckily, until then you have some great deadpan humor to keep you interested. Sadly, the bad language is often gratuitous and low-brow, but the movie leaves you with enough intellectual meat to justify admission.
This film is twice as ambitious as DD, but unfortunately only half as good, I'll still take it though.

Did you bother reading the graphic novels, in the end?

I was just wondering if you were ever confused at all, plot-wise, wanted to see how much of a difference the novels really made.

I was kept on my toes I'd say throughout, but the biggest confusion, as in DD, occurred at the end. I'm anxious to discuss that once the rest of you have seen it. Do the Baron and Taverner play big roles in the novels? Don't spoil it much though, I'm convinced I'll be getting them this weekend. I may also re-watch ST fairly soon. I just feel like I can pick up more now that I know how it plays out.

I remember the Baron being a main character in the second novel. Truth be told, I need to go back over them again myself.
Comes out tomorrow, finally.

Cool. I tried to get the books at the nearby store, but they were out of stock. I'll have to get them online, but I've just had other concerns, always other concerns.
Hope you enjoy the film anyhow.

Hope you enjoy the film anyhow. Well the film went out after a week, so I'm thrilled to say I'm waiting for the DVD now

It may hypothetically be available from an online source. Of course, to do that would be immoral and I would never recommend it, but it is very possible.

Comes out March here, so will wait, especially since I really need to focus on my university work. The layered lives we lead...

Has no one else seen it? Does anyone want to? Is the hype so low for this film that even fans of DD aren't interested?

I have to admit that I've been watching for commercials ... and never saw any. I'm stunned that it's gone into release -- and, apparently, out of the theaters -- all before I saw any marketing at all.
Guess I'll get it on DVD.

I'm afraid that Richard Kelly isn't going to make any more films that have any real impact. Southland Tales is a good film, at least, to me it is, but it has so many rough edges, and it clearly hasn't attracted the same following.
Sort of makes me depressed.
