I didn't know that Provi!
I can definitely feel the empowerment and optimism in the song.
Another song I like is on another album...I can't even think of the name but it starts out... 'when I was a little girl I had a rag doll'
Maybe it's called River Deep or something...

Maybe it's called River Deep or something... Yup. I think it's "River Deep, Mountain High" off of -- is it the Wonderland album? No, just looked it up: looks like maybe Innocents?

Hey, Now I am listening to Paul Simon's latest...Surprise
no, that's the name of the album...Surprise
:-)
I got it mostly for one song...Father and Daughter. The whole album is good tho...it's one of those ones that make you want to sit down and appreciate the thought that went into the lyrics.
Provi, Do you know the Father and Daughter song? It is also from the Wild Thornberries movie??? It makes me cry every stinking time I hear it.
"I'm gonna watch you shine I'm gonna watch you grow I'm gonna paint a sign so you'll always know as long as 1 and 1 is 2 there will never be a father who loved a daughter as much as I love you"

I am listening to Pink I'm Not Dead and I love it...I can't say I am disappointed with any of the songs and I definitely adore two of them so that's pretty good. I love Dear Mr President and the harmony that the Indigo Girls lend to that song is great.

Holocaust's debut has been awaited for around 8 years now, he went from driving Wu-Tang (RZA put him on) fans crazy to changing his style entirely and completely alientating his fans. Basically listening to his album is like watching a David Lynch movie, you accept it for what it is and not what it isn't. Sampler below for anybody interested... www.blueskyblackdeath.com/

The Equatorial Stars by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp the best of what so-called "ambient" music could be: other-worldly and engaging w/o "ethereal" wiftiness
(also have it in a home-brew w/ soundtracks from Fight Club and Solaris)

Twinkle, if you're a fan of ambient music, I implore you to check out Eluvium and Boards of Canada. You won't be let down.

Boy oh boy ... I was listening to music for almost 14 hours yesterday and I will have to credit Erasure for getting me home safely... that stuff just keeps me going...The last three hours from Portland to here were spent solely with them! I had to pick up The Fray on the way home and while I like the two main songs from them I am not so sure about the rest. That guy's voice is dreamy tho.
Today I had to run out and pick up Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens...I needed my own CD so I can read the lyrics. I think the whole thing sounds wonderful!!! I was looking for his Christmas Album but it wasn't there. :-( Of course I was listening to Death Cab and The Postal Service and a bit of the Shins, Jackson Browne and Dar Williams. I don't know where I would be without music!!!
