I think I might have some answers, didn't really go through the rest but uhh heres what I think. He died smiling because (according to the letter on the DD main site) he realizes that he will not die but have something to look forward to when he dies, death is not the end for him. The party needed to happen so that Frank could drive her back to the house, Frank ( the rabbit) or rather the guy he was in the other time distortion was the guy who dropped off Elizabeth. He is taken to teh Golf course because that's where the worm hole opens up first, or rather seen first, it's liek the start of it all, don't Know what else but that's what I got.
