Hi everyone. I just saw this movie last night. I loved it. It was soooo great. But the ending just confused the heck out of me. But I still loved it. I have a few questions though. Maybe Im dumb, but why did Donnie go to the cliff at the end of the movie and watched the clouds? Was he waiting to watch the world end, Or was he waiting to watch the air plane go into the dark tunnel time travel things? And also, why did the jet engine hit his room in the first part of the movie? Where did that one come from? I know where the jet engine came from in the end of the movie, but not the begginging. And one more thing... The whole movie, I thought Donnie saw that bunny Frank the whole time because Donnie had problems. I thought he had some kind of mental problem and his mind made him see Frank and did what Frank told him to do. But it seems that Frank was actually really there, and real? Man, I must be dumb. But anyway can soem one please help me with these answers?? [glow=magenta,2,300]Thanks so much!![/glow] ;D ;D ;D

Your not dumb. Check out the posts on this forum. You will see that people debate the movie (maybe more then they need to ), and most debate the very questions you just asked. Most belive that donnie goes to the cliff in the end to control the airplane to crash. All the dark clouds in the sky are presumed to be a portal that Donnie is making to send the jet engine through time. The jet engine falls in the first place because that is when the time rift occurs(dream). The dimensions are split in two. You can consider everything from the engine after to be a dream "tangent universe". Frank is only a vision of Donnies. No one else has the ability to see him.

Well, I think that Donnie goes to the cliffs in order to accentuate the circularity of the whole film (the film starts in the same cliffs, remember?). And the only problem Donnie has is beeing very lucid! He sees what no one sees, but he is the only one awake, and not insane. - ("-Why are you using that stupid mans suit?")

I dont know if donnie goes up to the cliff to control the plane or not but that theory makes some sense, i heard sumthing bout that is in The Philosophy of Time Travel. But i know before donnie even sees frank at the start of the movie he's at the top of that cliff, his sleepwalkking obviously drew him there. i think maybe something is drawing him there and he goes to control the aircraft but is not aware of what he is doing.

Well I say that the clouds are a portal for a few reasons. One, it's pretty apparent that the black clouds are the portal (there leading from the roof of his bedroom directly to the plane). You can also notice the plane look as if its being directed toward it in the end (gotta look real close though). Lastly, we see the jet engine traveling through the portal right after we see the plane hit the black clouds. to quote you Seraphin, when you state "circularity of the whole film" as being the purpose for going back up to the hill. I think we see him on the top of the hill at the start of the film as foreshadowing (in that both he has weird sleeping habits and this will be his "final destination".
