All you people need to do to figure out the movie is go on the website and watch the movie with the commentary on a couple of times. You dont need to start thinking beyone the movie to try and figure it out. What they give you in the movie is what you get to understand. When i first understood the ending and everything, i couldnt believe how easy it was to do so. My vital advice is to watch the commentary if your that obsessed about finding out about the ending like i was. feel free to respond if you have any questions.

There are several theories on the ending. Check out the thread the answer, it covers a few of them.
DarkDude,
I am interested in all views of this movie, since its one of my favorites. When I posted my theory in a thread, comments from others caused me to change it in a few ways. This is pretty obvious if you go through the entire thread. In the interest of discussion could you post your full theory into a new thread as I have done so we can fully discuss it.

you've only got it partly right. the answer is in the dvd. read roberta sparrow's book..... if you can see that well. once you understand what the tangent universe is and how it applies to the movie, then you'll understand the ending. by the way... donnie was in the real universe about a minute in the begginning and the end. the rest of the movie he was in the tangent universe.
