Hey, does anyone know if there will be an official soundtrack with the 80's music on it for the director's cut? It would make sense, and it seems as though with all the money made with DVD sales and the re-release that Richard Kelly would have enough money to get the rights for a cd.... If not I guess I can always live with my unofficial Kazaa Soundtrack...

Well I think it all depends on the box office success of this version and perhaps the video sales too....only time will tell

damn i hope so. also i would be a little resentful if it becomes a big blockbuster when rereleased. i feel like it is our little treasure and i am worried the general public would not understand it or appreciate it for what it is.

That always is hard I mean it is really good though and it would be a shame if only a select group got to enjoy it....though it could produce some problems because of the fact that the description you usually see makes it seem like a horror film and I can see the forums getting flooded with "That wasnt scary" threads.

ok, i'm sorry but i really dislike when people go around and say that movies and music and numerous other things are "their little secret"... I'm pretty sure Richard Kelly would love is film to be a hit at the box office, and i am too... I'd rather it be out there and i can talk about it with my friends or talk about it with my parents and they at least know what movie I'm talking about... plus if his movie makes a ton of money and a lot of people go to see it, then he's more likely to make a new, spectacular movie that's just as good, if not better than Donnie Darko.... I have the DVD and i watch it almost religiously, so i'd love for people to be as interested in it as me... The world's lifeline is money and the more you get the more successful you are... So I'm wondering why you wouldn't want Richard Kelly to be successful?

Damn whiteflash, a lil fiesty are we? I think you might be misunderstanding Gretchens posts a bit. Im sure she wants Richard Kelly to make tons off the movie, but is probably worried that the public will ridicule it because the general public are morons who go out and watch movies like freaky friday. So i think i see where she's comming from.

Like everyone im glad theyve decided to re-release the movie with bonus material, but really, INXS to open the film?? Are they mad? Anyone with some sense would choose "The Killing Moon" over any INXS track, its going to pull the whole opening down for me. Despite this bad decision, the original script had Sparkle Motion dancing to "West end girls" not "Notorius" which was actually featured - this may be a better choice for the directors cut. But still, not pleased about the INXS track, listen to it yourself and decide which you prefer, despite the relevant lyrics the song's just not good enough.

Don't worry about The INXS song. Never Tear Us Apart works very well with the scene. Being the dork that I am, I turned down the volume on the DVD and played the song from the beginning like the Killing Moon. I have to say, I understand perfectly now why he wanted to use this first.

01 The Killing Moon - by Echo & The Bunnymen 02 Head over Heels - by Tears for Fears 03 Notorious - by Duran Duran 04 Proud To Be Loud - by The Dead Green Mummies 05 Love Will Tear Us Apart - by Joy Division 06 Under the Milky Way - by The Church 07 Mad World - by Gary Jules
Chronologically, those are the "pop" songs in DD. Altho I doubt a pop song sdtrk will come out this late (altho the director's cut came out this late, so who knows), you can (legally, of course) dL this songs. Or if you live in a mansion with your own pond, buy each CD from these artists and rip the songs onto one cd.

well, if you have a mansion and a 'pond' then i suggest you hire the bands for a ridiculous sum of money and record them playing p.s: rid of the pond and construct a lake

I'm a huge fan of the pet shop boys (for a year now) and when I first heard "west end girls" i thought "donnie darko".I love that song possibly my faveorite pet shop boys song (along with "being boring") and i played it with the dvd and sure enough the girls dance in time with it!i hope they chang eit (although notorius is good too)

Yeah, I actually did call my agent to pull back together all the great 80s bands from the DD soundtrack. We had a great concert with my now-expanded-pond-into-lake. The sound was great while I lounged in my personal floatie in my lake. Too bad you peasants of DD couldn't come.
