Has anybody been following the future projects of our wunderkind Richard Kelly.
I'm sure you all know that at the moment he is working on preproduction for another time travel paradox film called Knowing. It follows the story of a discovery of a time capsule, inside the capsule are drawings of major disasters of this century, except one drawing hasnt happened yet...
Another project he is working on is and adaptation of a Matheson story called The Box, it was also a twilight zone episode in the 80's, it tells the story of a couple who find a mystical box which will make them rich but for this to happen a man must die. Kelly's production company Darko Entertainment will produce and Eli Roth will direct.
The most recent one i've heard of is Southland Tales, which will be directed by Kelly and is about Los Angeles in 2008 during a heat wave just prior to the July 4 holiday. But check out the cast in talks for the film. Seann William Scott (in talks), Sarah Michelle Gellar (in talks), Jason Lee (in talks), Janeane Garofalo (in talks), Tim Blake Nelson (in talks), Amy Poehler (in talks), Kevin Smith (in talks), Ali Larter...
Yep, seems like Kelly's on his way!

Yeah, I've known (heh) about "Knowing" for a while. "The Box" sounds interesting too. Kelly seems like the new M. Night Shaylaman (did I spell that right?) They are very much in the same vein, and I for one would love to see them do a straight ahead super-hero movie, such as one of the numerous projects Marvel has in development. I've also heard that an "Astro City" movie is in development, and for those who don't know, "Astro City" is one of the best and most influential super-hero comics ever. It approaches the super-hero paradigm from the perspective of the people who live in a city full of super-beings, rather than focusing on the super-folks. Kelly or Shaylaman could go to town on that. Anyway, peace out.

Richard Kelly has also been writing several screenplays, one of them is about a hitman which he has been writing for Tony Scott (True Romance, Enemy of the State) and another is an adaptation of Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, i hope Kelly decides to direct this, anybody who hasnt read the novel go out and get it now, it's fantastic. Man, Kelly is one busy MoFo!
