Jumbo Jet Emergency Landing By Michael Rosenfield Web produced by Christine Lasek October 21, 2004 A jumbo jet was en route from Chicago to New York when it lost an engine and had to make an emergency landing Wednesday night. The FAA has been called in to investigate. The five-member crew of the Kalitta Boeing 747 emergency landed the jet at Metro Airport around 11:15 Wednesday night. No one was hurt. FAA Investigators are searching for the missing engine near Battle Creek. Although the plane lost its engine on the west side of the state, it was still able to hobble its way to Metro Airport. Kalitta Air is based in Ypsilanti's Willow Run Airport. The company specializes in moving cargo around the world. It is unknown what this Boeing 747 was carrying. It is believed that the Kalitta Director of Operations will release a statement later Thursday. www.detnow.com/wxyz/nw_local_news/article/0,2132,WXYZ_15924_3270305,00.html
