My son is in New York right now and I am wondering if any of you east coasters have seen fireflies yet this summer?
I am so sad that we don't have them in Washington State...
I hope he gets to see them...
Is there anyone who looks forward to them as much as I do... anyone who has never seen a firefly??

Psh, my band's thread didn't get any posts... How can you possibly expect this to get one!?
EDIT: Shit.
EDIT 2: No, I haven't.

I've never seen a firefly. You just don't get them on the south coast of England! My sister went to Albania recently, and they were all over apparently.

What a wild coincidence.
We regularly had fireflies in the woods behind our house growing up. Now, in our semi-urban digs, we almost never see them. I JUST said to my wife the other evening, "I hope Avery doesn't grow up without fireflies -- they're such magic to a kid."
So, funny you should mention it.

Yeah, they've been outside here for a little while, last night I was walking around and there were so many of them it looked almost like a light show or something. I get some in my house alot actually, and alot of nights I'll be going to bed and there'll be one or two buzzing around my room lighting it up, it's pretty.

they are out in abundance tonight, first time since last Summer; it's been especially warm & humid here the past few days.

saw the first one of the summer few days ago. lots and lots out last night. hasn't been hot/humid until recently (northeast USA); suspect weather is key to sightings over here.
