Yeah. Quite good, actually. I have family that lives in England and in Wales.
I don't play it often, but sometimes when I play Halo online I talk with a British accent. There's nothing better than calling some dude a"wanker" as he kills you.

Hey, wow! That's awesome! I had no clue anyone on the DD boards would be in NFL. Small world, I guess. Well, this year I did pretty much everything short of HI (saving that for next year). All year I did a piece called "Living and Dying and 4/4 Time" for DI. I got to semifinals in state with that piece. For duet for most of the year I did a piece called "Never the Sinner" by John Logan. For Nationals I did duo with "REAL Ultimate Power" (the only humorous piece I did all year). I thought we did quite well with it, but our prelims judges proved otherwise ;D . I guess ninjas don't fare too well at nats. I never did debate or anything, but I must say that the most fun I had this year in school was in forensics. I'm only a sophomore (I'll be a junior next year), so I'll still have two years ahead of me to kick ass . I've made so many friends, it's great. What events did you do?

In high school, I started debating CX which I continued until the start of my senior year. Went to Districts each year and placed as 1st alternates both years. I also dabbled in Extemp, Impromptu and Oratory. Competed in state my junior year in Extemp.
Due to a shortage of LDers, I made the unfavorable switch to LD in my senior year. Great success there (didn't have to carry a partner.) Placed 3rd at State. Only thing I didn't count on was forgetting that LD changes topic three times a year. Was totally unprepared going into Districts and was down and out in only 4 rounds. That sucked.
In college I competed in Parliamentary Debate and went to NPDA Nationals in Point Loma, CA. Also did impromptu occasionally. College was the first time I actually did any interp. I did Prose three years. Went to AFA Nationals held in Montgomery, AL. by qualifying my cut of "Magpies" by Amy Tan. Performed duo and qualified "The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year." I should taken up interp in high school. I would've had soooooooooooooo much fun!!
We were very segregated. Debaters v. IE'ers. As a high-school debater, I thought that IE'ers were complete idiots. I'm sure they thought the same of us. College was awesome. We can co-exist with great success. And good luck!! Do us proud . . .

Sounds awesome.
At our school the debaters and interpers are very much one unit. I have so much fun hanging out with the debaters. We have parties in the hotel rooms and such. Our school recently won state (Southlake Carroll) and after that we've all gotten so close.
Man, this is cool. Nobody else knows what the fuck we're talking about but we're having the time of our lives. We're neat.

I keep forgetting to tell you that there is a Chuck Pahlaniuk interview in the June 30th Rolling Stone with Jessica Alba on the cover. I haven't had time to read it yet.

Can you do a good English accent? you realise how stupid that actaully is lol Yes, I realize that there are a wide variety of accents across England. My buddy from Nottingham sounds different from guys I know at work who are from the north and the south. But I wouldn't call it stupid. Someone from northern Ohio has an accent distinguishable to me from someone from, say, Cincinnati -- and that's within one state. To you, both would sound like "American" accents. Same idea with an English accent in this context: most people wouldn't have the geographic familiarity to say whether Moon doing a reading was using the regionalized accent that went with the character he was doing ... like you wouldn't know whether someone doing a character from Cincinnati "actually" was using an Akron accent. So, take it down a notch, eh?

Hey, thanks Provi.
And we do, at our school, have a dialect coach. We have cds and the sort that help us nail the accent perfectly when we need to be that kind of character. I've had to use a few different dialects when it comes to Brit-speak. Like there's a definite difference between what we sound like in Oliver then what we sound like in A Cry Of Players.

New York sure has it's share of varied dialects and look how small it is! I wish I could master an Irish brogue of any sort. OHIO!!! I had a friend from Ohio and I just loved that she would say
"Please?" when she wanted something repeated. Too cute. ummm.....a book comment...well... I am still working on They Thirst by McCammon and to be honest it is freaking me out because it is about vampire's in downtown L.A. . I was walking around Seattle for the last two nights, waiting for some all ages concerts to end, (mom=taxi stuff)and there were some buildings that I walked by that definitely gave me the 'willie's'. I heard noises where there should have been no noises IMHO. I was imagining bat people setting up their little bat nests in these buildings. Kinda creepy, but also kinda cool.

If you like 'punk' sci-fi check out anything by China Mieville. I'm currently tracking down a copy of Iron Council.
I just finished reading the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons (just like everyone else in the world!).
I have to say , I enjoyed the implications of the research behind them more than the writing or the stories (not that they were bad by any means).
