I have a query. When Donnie tells her that "everything will be ok for you" and she gets scared and tells him to "Chut up!" what is the notebook that falls to the ground with "Donnie Darko" written in caligraphy on the cover? What was up with that? It shows Donnie that he was iodolized by her, and was another affirmation that wasn't alone, his biggest fear...

A sequel. I sure hope that's a buncha bullshit. But in a world (imagine a trailer voice-over here) where "Fast & the Furious 2 (2, mind you), and "Torque" and whatever inane piece of shit Julia Roberts is in this week, are committed to celluloid, it would not overly surprise me that this rumor were true. ( I'd put a smiley-thing here, but none of them are gritting their teeth in rage/frustration/cynicism.)

For what it's worth, I've picked through Google returns on "Donnie Dark 2," "Donnie Darko sequel" and other variations until my eyes were crossed. I see nothing out there even hinting or suggesting a follow-up. It seems some people are inclined to post things here just to cause a ruckus.
And, in an interview with the Washington Post with Kelly I know most of you have read:
Old Town Alexandria, Va.: Have you thought of doing a movie that somehow builds on, intersects with, or is otherwise related to Darko (not necessarily a sequel or prequel)?
Richard Kelly: I like to think that each movie exists in a separate realm. Although you might find intersecting themes, I would prefer that each film is in a completely isolated universe, unless it is a sequel. There will never be a sequel to "Donnie Darko."
(emphasis is mine.)
