Okay, please forgive me if this has been addressed before. I searched, and I found a few people who brought this up, but they never seemed to get any responses from anyone who understood what they were trying to say, and this has really been bothering me.

The engine that is ripped from the plane and sent through the wormhole at the end of the movie is not the artifact. The Philosophy Of Time Travel states that an artifact will appear in the Tangent Universe and that the Living Receiver must send it back to the Primary Universe. An artifact appears, the engine that crashes through his room, but that engine is not the one that is sent to the Primary Universe. That engine is taken by the FAA. Donnie sends the engine that it is a copy of into the wormhole... but that engine wouldn't be the artifact, because it belongs in the Tangent Universe to begin with.

Thanks for the post, Shaggy. I think there is general agreement here (but I could be wrong) that the engine sent to the PU is not the same engine that appeared in the TU. I think it is the same AS the other engine though -- an exact copy, as has been discussed here. And my belief is that the TU --> PU engine is the one that kills Donnie in the end ... meaning he essentially heaved a big hunk of metal into the air, then laid under it to be squashed.

But this is a good test of my memory, as I haven't been well versed or thoughtful about this stuff in a long time. I wonder what others think ...
