hey everyone! I'm brand new to ths site. Have only this year found out and watched Donnie Darko-and really love it, everything about it is so profound-I like that a film can make you think!
I don't know anyone yet, so will tell you about myself. I'm 18 (last monday was my birthday) and am doing my A-levels in England. wanna become a vet or something like that eventually!

Welcome to the site - another added to the growing British contingent! Have a look here to get a little background on some of the members here. And don't forget to search the site before posting - the discussion or info you are after may already be tucked away somewhere in the forums. Have fun!

Hello, my name is Darryl. I will warn you now, I have been accused in the past of suffering from verbal diarrhea so apologies if I tend to get a wee bit wordy. I'm not sure how to introduce myself so mayhap I shall start with how I was introduced to Donnie Darko. My friend and coworker, who I have sent this forum to and maybe he'll join, told me he had this great movie I should see. He lent me the DC and told me to watch it. I watched it once and thought I had an inkling what was going on. I listened to the commentary with Richard Kelly and Kevin Smith and was pleased to discover I was on the right track. My theory wasn't quite the same as Kelly's but as it's his movie, who am I to disagree? I was kind of put off that Smith kept taking the commentary off into tangents about Fargo and stuff like that but overall, it was quite entertaining. I saw the movie a few weeks ago and have since got the official book online and I have the 2 DVDs and the CD on my wishlist. I really like the movie--it might be the best film I've seen since Pulp Fiction. I don't watch a lot of movies, though, so I never pretend to be an authority. I think I've gone on at great length so just one more thing. despite what my username may lead you to believe, I am not really a hitman. I have been a pro wrestling fan for 18 years now and my all-time favorite wrestler is Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Hence, my name is a tribute to him. Hmm, looking up at the section header here, I think I failed to make this a "Quick" Reply but I hope it's alright, anyway.

Welcome Darryl, Have you seen the non directors cut?? I just watched it again last night with my brother. There are very few movies I will watch more than once, and even less that I will watch more than twice! My brother loved it. I didn't get a chance to talk with him too much about it but I have a feeling that he will be thinking about it for awhile.

hey everyone... first-timer here (please be gentle). i've already done the "w.t.f.?" first-time response to my first viewing. someone i knew brought up some stuff i didn't even catch and then i watched it again.... whoa! each time i find more layers and depth. i do have some/a few questions... (probably been answered 100x already)... maybe later. thanx for such deep thoughts and a place to seek and find.
very cool movie - very cool site - very cool discussions ww
