Well, I first got the movie on my 16th birthday, which was last April(the 5th, to be exact). My brother got it for me, and told me it's a great movie that would make me think. I was wondering how this was, because when I looked at the packaging it looked pretty straightforward, to me it looked like a horror movie. But when I first saw it the next weekend, I knew it was much different than any movie I've ever seen.
I was completely amazed by the movie. The whole idea of the subject of time travel being possible was a very new and fascinating thing to me. The very next day I was researching it on the internet. I've watched it many times since then, and it's a movie that is still incredible every time I watch it, and still blows my mind.
The other day I went to the library and picked up Stephen Hawking's "A Briefer History Of Time"(the original version, "A Brief History Of Time", which is a longer and harder to understand version, was mentioned and shown in the movie by Monnitoff). It's amazing to see that time travel can actually be possible. If it weren't for Donnie Darko, I doubt I would be doing this research, and I doubt I would have this drive inside of me to look more into science & physics of time and space.
Well yep, that's about it. Hope you enjoyed reading my post, and maybe some of you can relate. Peace.

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] When I first saw this movie, I have to say it made me think heaps about it for the next, well, ever! This movie has made me realise that there is more to the world then we realise. My math teacher and I, believe in time travle, and that everything that occures in this movie is possible. I'll admit everytime I see donnie smooshed b that jet engine a tear comes to my eye But everytime I think of donnie telling miss farmer to shove a book up her ass ;D makes me laugh. Alot. I still dont think that Donnie needed to die in the end, because he could have gotten out of his bed for another reason, and it be a coinsidence that that happened, but i suppose then everything bad would have still happened. I have to say that Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors i have ever seen in my life and i think hes gorgeous

He really is cute and did you see that he is dating Cameron Diaz?
Did your teacher see Donnie Darko?? I really like the fact that Donnie was such a rebel in those 28 days. Not that I would want every kid to take on that role worldwide but I do think that is a message for kids that adults don't always have it together.
OMG...I always compare DD to It's a Wonderful Life and I am thinking about how George had to really, really stand up to that pharmacist who was giving the wrong medicine to someone... even tho the adult was brow beating him he stood up and saved a life. Of course, that pharmacist was so grateful and apologetic to George but sometimes you run into folks who just act like "How dare you?" when they are being questioned and when they find out they were wrong they still have that "How dare you?" attitude. That is just another reason why I love movies like this. It empowers critical thinkers!

The first time I saw DD was 2 months ago on mtv, I loved it so much but didn't understand it so I looked it up on the web and found the best way to understand was get the directors cut. I did the next day after hours of search (along w/ S. Darko) watched it and understood MOST of it the first viewing. Now I'm trying to find out how the TU managed not to be destroyed and a deeper meaning to the whole thing.
I know that sending the jet engine to the PU was what saved it but how exactly?

It seems like the Unstable Tangent Universe can't cope with having a duplicate object within it. Once it's removed the TU unravels safely. Time in the Primary Universe is stable and linear and the duplicate Artifact doesn't seem to cause any problems.
When the TU is created it is an EXACT copy of the PU. Several minutes later the Artifact anomaly appears. For the TU to end safely it must once again be an EXACT copy of the PU otherwise it collapses in on itself and forms a black hole. The only way it can be exact (one of everything) is to remove one of the duplicate jet engines.

I always sort of knew that I'd love this movie, even before watching it. A few nights ago, I was responsible for a pretty serious car crash. The passenger and I were unharmed, which was a total miracle. Ever since, I can't stop thinking about life and why some are chosen to live and some are chosen to die. To me, this movie was about purpose and the value of time. Also, it sort of just blew my mind in terms of plot. To say the least, I am amazed at how well I was able to connect to the movie.
