One way to see that and to answer it (and remember this is not THE answer, just a answer and or theory) is that Donnie makes his decision to go back in time and to sacrafice himself for her and for the rest of his family and the world. It's a pretty cool concept when you think about it, he's kinda like jesus for those who are christian....(i just know background)...so there's one side.... Any other suggestions/answers/theories?

Can you talk about why the therapist is so important... I remember being upset with her. Feeling as tho she wasn't the best choice to deal with him. Have you ever heard of false memory syndrome...there is a psychologist here at the UW who they always use in court cases because of the fact that memories can be prompted... faculty.washington.edu/eloftus/Articles/sciam.htmI don't think his psychologist was bad...just aloof...
