Ok let me start at the beginning... 1. Donnie is chosen to close the tangent universe, but what OPENS it? I know it's created when something that's not supposed to happen does, but it couldnt be the engine that was wrong because it couldnt come from the tangent universe if it was closed to start with. 2. Why does Frank honk to get Donnie out of bed the second time? If Frank was an angel of sorts, he would have complied with God's plan for Donnie to die then, so as not to die alone like Sparrow. 3. How does Donnie close the tangent universe? By sending the engine (and himself) back to the primary universe? How does he do that? 4. Deux ex machina is introduced suddenly to resolve a situation or untangle a plot. What is the thing that resolves everything in the movie?

While everyone is talking about Donnie shooting Frank in the eye at the end of the movie, didn;t he ALSO stab him in the eye through the water block after taking his pills?

I think that God opened the wormhole between the tangent and primary universe. The plane engine from the primary universe went into the tangent universe on Oct. 30 and arrived on Oct 2. Later, the tangent universe plane engine went into the primary universe on Oct 2. and arrived at Oct. 30. Because Donnie is killed by the tangent universe plane engine, he will never go out with Gretchen, and she will never be killed by Frank, and Donnie will never kill Frank. God created the wormhole so Donnie could sacrifice his life to save Gretchen and Frank's lives. Donnie also found out there was a God when he dreamed about the tangent universe. Donnie's search for an answer as to whether or not there is a God ended and he was no longer afraid of dieing, and he would have to die eventually. "I know that when the end comes there will be so much to look forward to." 2. I agree. I think the idea is silly. 3. Either A) his living receiver powers, or B) simply because it was created to send the plane engine into the tangent universe. When Donnie is killed by the tangent universe engine at the end of the film, then God wouldn't need to create the wormhole again. 4. I don't get the Deus Ex Machina reference either.

Ok, so if the first jet engine went through from the primary universe into the tangent universe on oct 2 (in tangent universe time), and on oct 30 an identical engine was ripped off a plane and went back into the primary universe, wouldn't there be a major fuss in the tangent universe that a jet engine just appeared and then 28 days later an identical one just disappeared? Or does it not matter because the tangent universe ceased to exist after Donnie in the primary universe died (as the wormhole was closed)?

the deaux ex machina thing, (to the best of my research) is latin for goddess of the machine, or something of that idea.
my friends idea is that from the moment donnie wakes up to when he goes back to the start again is a dream in which god (in comes the search for god thing) convinces donnie that he can die, because he wont be dying alone and it will be worth it. he also thinks that it is god that sends the plain engine, and samantha doesnt die for reasons explained somewhere else.
tell me what you think of this idea

therefore, from octobre second (film start) to octobre 2nd (film end) is a sort of dream, in which god shows donnie all that will happen unless he stays in bed and gets hit by the engine
(please excuse my appalling spelling)

I belive in the movie it says no one knows why the living reciver (Donnie) is chosen. In an interview with RK posted on Richardkelly.net RK gives a really reason way out of left feild. Like the last thing you would ever expect. Which is kinda what you would have to expect from the guy who thought up DD in the first place.
