I have not seen it yet so I can't comment but those of you who have please post up what you thought of it. It comes out here in Australia in December so I will grab it straight away, until then let me know if you like it better than the original.

I'm not going to go into graphical detail and you shouldn't want to know in advance it will take away the element of suprise but in a nutshell I would say the Director's Cut makes comprehension of the movie more lucid, it tells you a lot of what people on here would had have to have went online for (reading the PoTT for instance) during the film, if that makes sense.

I agree with Omnipotent...
I will say this though... I liked the added scenes I thought they added greatly to the movie... I could have done without the little "extras" though....
I like the original better, but if the "extras" weren't included, I would like the Directors Cut better...

I think it was as good as the original but without the overused special effects it could have been better

Bought the Director's cut a day after I saw the original. Each is very different with respect to perspective. The original release leaves many more options for interpretation while the director's cut includes many nods to director Kelly's possible intent for writing scenes and plot set up. These "nods" are inconsistent and therefore I am happy to view the original release and join in conversation here.
In short, both movies are enough different that I am happy to have both.
Biggest disappointment was that the movie theater scene wasn't better in the director's cut. Instead it was less than the original version.
