Hey all,
Been sorta busy lately, but I've had a few thoughts lately.
Revised my entire theory, actually. I now understand that Donnie never travelled through time. Nobody did. The only thing that traveled through time besides the engine was information.
Anyway, the "world is going to end." What I think that means is either the original universe or the tangent universe, is going to end. In other words, Donnie (or the primary, in non-specific terms) has to make a choice. Either they will choose to send the vessel back to the primary universe (thus destroying the alternate universe and creating a new primary), or not (maintaining the new timeline as the primary). The choice is theirs.
In simpler terms, they see time develop in a different way, and based on their subconcious memory of the original timeline, and their experiences, they have to decide what happens.
Why does this happen? I dunno, answer to a prayer, perhaps?
Anyway, this helps explain the actions of the manipulated living (who would in the least have a notion that something wasn't right in the world), and the manipulated dead (who were seeking to prevent their death in the first place.
So how does this tie in with Roberta Sparrow? Perhaps she had a similar choice to make, and made a selfish choice to save herself rather than a selfless choice to sacrifice herself?
