Hi. Ive watched this movie tons of times and i understand most of it but what i dont get is that when Donnie sends the engine back isnt he just creating another paradox because wont there now be two exactly identical engines in the universe where he dies. Wont this just cause similar events to occur again.
Any help would be appreciated in helping me understand this.

I think the stumbling block is that we assume the engine falling through a wormhole (travelling through time) is the abnormality. Fact is, it isn't. The jet engine falling 28 days,etc., etc. into the past is a phenomena that happens regardless. This is not the abnormality. The anomaly is Donnie living. |
