I am currently studying a cult film unit at uni, and have to conduct a fan based survey... so from a true cult fan to another why do u consider yourselves as a cult fans ? Is it the fact, we like strange and unconventional films? Or is it more then that, do we like the fact that we are able to appreciate and understand films that others dismiss..

Is there such a thing as a cult fan? I like some cult films (The Room and Donnie Darko come to mind) but I don't like others (The Big Lebowski for instance). I suppose the fact that to get to that cult status, to be unappealing to a wide audience but then pick up a following as some people start to notice it, does lead a film to have a certain charm, and that can be appealing, but it's no assurance I will like any particular film.

Some films I don't like but I can see why they're popular, that one's just kind of perplexing.
