There is a complete point-by-point comparison of the two versions somewhere on the Web -- I suggest a google search for "differences in Donnie Darko director's cut."

All I can say about the directors cut is the music changes really disapointed me, they should have never been tampered with and after being about half way through the Mad World video I had to turn it off before it ruined the song for me (can't really explain why).

these post are both negetive and positive, but I will still buy the Director's cut to just see the differences myself and be able to judge it according to my point of view. I hope it is not that great of a dissapointment.
Hey according to what I am hearing, on halloween in my city, they will be opening DD on all movie theaters, sweet.

I wouldnt say the DD: DC was a dissappointment....it improved some things and messed up others but overall is probably almostas good if not just as good as the original

Well I think the DD DC is a double disc with both movies on it so I would get that (though I may be wrong) but if I had to pick one I'd pick the original because you can still see most of the scenes from the DC on the special features section

One disk is the DC, the other is the featurettes.

Isn't the Director's cut soundtrack a double disc too?

Right. One CD has the score, already released as a single in the U.S.. The other CD has INXS, Joy Divisions, Ave Maria, For Whom the bell tolls etc.. So the DC and U.K. sound track total 4 discs

Actually, just south of Seattle, Washington u.s.a. Saw the movie, watched it 4 times in two days and then ordered the director's cut, U.K.. version. Figured I'd at least have the DVD and would find a way to get it to play on my computer. Succcess!!!!

Do you mean like Best Buy the store, or online. I know it is much esier to buy it offline, but I have certain, umm, restrictions by higher authoreties in buying online policy. Unless it is a last resource I am not really allowed to buy products online.

Best Buy store. And there's always Hollywood video or Blockbuster that probably have a few used copies.
A Richard Kelly website lists the DC version of DD for the second or third week of January for region 1.
