Are you talking to me or somebody else?
I'm in the UK right now and bought the Director's Cut the other day which of course features extras on it, I'm just breaking down what you receive in addition, although the American version will most likely differ.

Oh, well that makes a bit more sense. Thanks anyways, I think that here or over there, they are probably the same thing, or nearly the same thing. Well thank you anyways, bye.

Bought the Region 1 (U.S.) version of DD last Wednesday in the bargin bin. People are such idiots. Watched the movie at least 10 times over then next few days and then ordered the region 2 (U.K.) version which will arrive tomorrow. So long as I can convince my DVD player to recognize region 2 DVD's I'll be able to detail the differences between the U.S./U.K. versions if anyone is interested. Now just have to buy the book.

Now just have to buy the book. Why? It was just put out to make money, it's not even worth looking at in my opinion.

Thought it might have a bit more information than the 12 pages of the POTT. Besides, I'd like to see them make more money.#nosmileys

Thought it might have a bit more information than the 12 pages of the POTT. Besides, I'd like to see them make more money. Both great points, Josh. My understanding is that the book is a pretty useful companion piece, and not just a spinoff to generate more money (truth is, this franchise has made exactly jack shit -- nothing they've done has made money, or could be reasonably considered something done "just to cash in"). I believe a few people have mentioned on the boards that the book isn't really a narrative -- it's more like a reference guide with things contributed directly by Kelly. I'd like to buy it, too. Josh, let us know if you get it and what you think.

Hmm. In reading the table of contents, I see the following:
1) Forward by Jake Gyllenhall 2) "Asking Cosmic Questions" interview with Kelly 3) Screenplay 4) Pages from The Philosophy of Time Travel 5) Images: sketches and images from the film, plus images from something called the "They Made Me Do It" exhibition
Doesn't that sound intriguing to you? At the very least, it sound like significantly more than "the movie in book form." And, actually, the textual part appears to be the screenplay, not a narrative ... so that's different too.
To each his/her own, of course: I'm not pushing the book for or on anyone. But I do think it looks to be an interesting companion piece that's not just a novel based on the book, as I've stated before ...

The only thing that would really interest me in all honesty is #5 and that was captured on the DVD extras found on the UK version of the director's cut, maybe I'm wrong maybe I'm right, if you ever get the book enlight me.

Ok, as soon as anybody finishes seeing both versions, please post a.s.a.p. I am really interested knowing what r the differences in them. Which I insist on thinking they are not many.

From what you tell me, it is not that great of a difference, even though those little extra things would be nice to watch.

Starting the director's cut dvd. as noted earlier, production scenes, interviews with Director kelly, Donnie, Rose, Eddie, Gretchen, Kenneth, Dr. Thurman etc.. Comments made by these individuals are interesting. New Mad world video. Same extended scenes in the additional cd. Have to see if what was added to the director's cut actual movie. Found a program that allows you to view region 2 videos without trouble so far "free ware." Starting the acutal movie now..... new music added! "Hush, hush, voices carry"#nosmileys definitely new details and scenes, ie. possibly when the TU started!#nosmileys
The sound quality is less than the original release. However, throughout the movie there are additional comments, songs (see above) and small segements of scenes which provide blatant hints as to the overall context of what is occuring but doesn't answer many questions. Raises a few new questions though. Both are different enough that I like having both, each with good and bad points. #nosmileys#nosmileys

The director's cut is slightly different than the original release of DD. Several additional scene sections change some of the perspective and make things a bit more confusing. Biggest disappointment is the theater exchange between Frank and Donnie. Director's cut of this scene is less impressive than the original release. Otherwise having both is good for the variety of presentations.
