Richard Kelly was offered the chance to direct The Ring 2 but turned it down.
I just read that imdb.com

Wow you heard? People don't even watch films anymore before having an opinion.

Haven't you done just that with Brokeback Mountain?

Richard Kelly directing Brokeback Mountain would rule. Jake would wake up in the middle of the night to sodomize cowboys while trying to halt the production of methane being produced by cattle before it strangles mankind. 5/5.

Haven't you done just that with Brokeback Mountain? When did I say Brokeback Mountain was a bad film? I said I didn't want to watch a film about homosexual cowboys, there's a difference.

Maybe if Kelly had directed Ring II, it WOULDN'T have sucked.
Which it did, BTW. And I'm a Ring I fanatic.

I bought the double-pack a while ago; I agree the sequel was rubbish - maybe we should lobby for a re-remake?
That seems to imply some sort of pre-judgement to me, but maybe I'm reading more into it that was meant.

Thanks - but I think he was more going for a "matter of taste" argument. I tend to avoid costume dramas for the same reason.

Prejudgment: A judgment reached before the evidence is available.
All I said was Gretchen said she HEARD it sucked. I've seen the trailer for Brokeback Mountain and read reviews and I don't want to see it. I never said it was garbage but from my understanding the gay community wasn't that impressed and cited other, better films that covered homosexuality anyway.

i see pardon my misuderstanding but also dosn't the gay community like all others want a rose colored image portrayed of them (except goths they want pitch black)

But she didn't say she thought it sucked based on that...
I'd say realistic ("untinted") rather than rose-tinted.
I think I managed to drag this thread into a dumb argument by being a bit flip - so sorry for that.
Back on topic - it WOULD have been cool if RK had helmed Ring 2 - and maybe given the chance to pen the rewrite too.
