Richard Kelly didn't direct Domino (he wrote it). So I'd hope that adding RK to your list of fave directors would be on the strength of DD rather than the Domino trailer.
Personally I'm going to wait on Southland Tales before deciding what I think of RK's talents. As much as I love DD, one film just isn't enough to make that call.
I just hope that DD won't turn out to be a spark of brilliance in a mediocre career.

Yeah, but then there's M Night Shyamalan;
6th Sense - Great Unbreakable - Good Signs - Rridiculous The Village - Boring.
Not particularly looking forward to the next one.
His directing AND writing are getting worse as time goes on. At least Lucas had some good ideas even if he can't direct for toffee.

Yeah, Donnie Darko could end up being Kelly's "One-hit-Wonder", but not much can be told of his talent from a single movie.... I really hope his talent won't be decieving, and that "Southland Tales" meets up to my expectations or at least levels with Donnie Darko (and I am really skeptic towards believing that it will surpass DD)... I also doubt that Kelly released DD with much faith into it.. For some unexplainable reason, I honestly think that he wasn't expecting it to be such a large hit... Hey! I remeber "6th sense", and yeah it was a great movie... "Signs" was a dissapointment and it was really stupid (I hate that movie), "The Village" Ummm... I dont' know, I mean, I personally liked it, but I would understand why people would think it was boring or they didn't like it (specially if you were expecting it to be a super-horror movie) I didn't know that all of these movies were written and/or directed by the same person... Other movies that are kinda somewhat alike "The Village" that I enjoyed and I would understand why other people didn't like them, would be "The Others" and "Darknness"...

I liked The Others. (Haven't seen Darkness)
I just came out of The Village with a feeling that he treid too hard to misdirect the audience from the 'big twist' with the whole 'there is a monster - there isn't a monster - there is a monster' thing, and it just didn't work for me. Just another example of a nice idea badly executed (IMO).

I don't think (at least in my opinion) that the largest and central twist was the "monsters exist-monsters don't exist" thingy-majingy, but the whole notion that they were living in present-day and that this was all an experiment because they were trieng to protect themselves from the external influences.. All the monster thing was built up afterwards in order to keep the experiment functioning... I think that he did do a good job making the audience believe that the monster thing was the focus point later to reveal that it is all part of a larger factor...
Oh, I bearly remmebered what Unbreakable was about... Ummmm. I kinda liked that movie, but there was just something missing at the end that left me unsatisffied, maybe it's the whole idea that the character Bruce Willis plays is just a normal mortal person and that he only committed one "super-deed", but I liked the fact that he was able to do so many "super-human actions" with just believing that he was a super-human... It shows the siginificance of the power of the mind and how believing greatly influences your'e limits...

Niether do I Mad. Read my post.
This is where I disagree - it felt forced to me.
Isn't the point of the movie that he isn't a normal human being? He is a superhero and just doesn't believe it for most of the movie - his son and 'Mr Glass' prove it to him. You only see him do one superhero type deed, but the film isn't about him being a superhero, but discovering that they really exist and that he is one. I always like to thing that what we see is just the beginning of his 'super'-career. (Sequel anyone?)

Niether do I Mad. Read my post. Oops, apperantly I didn't understand fully you're post the first time I read it.... My bad.. All Apologies..... I guess I interpreted the movie in another way.. I took it as him being a normal person who with just believing in "Mr. Glass's" words was able to do incredible things.... Eventhough he did seem to be superficially skeptic about believing his words, but I think deep inside he wanted to believe and that is what enabled him to do all those super-human things.... But I am not saying that I am fully correct, I could have understood it differently (I think I was also doing something else while watching the movie) so I could be very well mistaken...

His up and coming movies include...
The Box:
A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a troubled married couple, who open it and become instantly wealthy. Little do they realize that opening the box also kills someone they do not know.
Southland Tales:
A musical/comedy set in 2008 where a three-day heatwave in Los Angeles culminates in a huge Fourth of July party.
Domino:
A recounting of Domino Harvey's life story. The daughter of actor Laurence Harvey turned away from her career as a Ford model to become a bounty hunter.

Didn't know the box was actually in any state of production yet. Me neither. It's been talked about for quite some time -- a couple years, maybe? I believe RK is collaborating on The Box with the writer/director of Cabin Fever.

Umm, their descriptions sound kinda cheesy, but Southland tale's website looks neato, the box sparks a bit of my interest.
