first of all, donnie didn't rip the engine off the tornado did. Donnie sent it back through time into the original universe. If he would have died originaly then the ending is what would happen, but since frank called him out of bed it changed the course of time. If frank wouldn't have caled donnie out of bed then donnie woldn't send the engine back through time and he wouldn't die. but since frank called him and told him to do everything the engine is eventualy sent back through time and donnie dies in the end.

WORMHOLE. secondly, no time travel. parallel universes on different space times. um, if frank hadn't called him out of bed... the engine would have killed him in the beginning. the course of time was not changed.

The fact that Frank gets Donnie out of bed doesn't mess things up at all... Why? Because when Frank wakes Donnie, they're already in the tangent universe. One way of knowing this, is that Frank was killed in the tangent universe, there for he can only exist in Donnie's mind with-in that same universe.
You're thinking too much about the time travel thing and not thinking enough about the 2 separate universes, which it's really the main backbone.

I just saw the movie for the first time lst week. I loved it so much that i had to go out and buy the DVD. I love movies that make you think, and this one surely did make my think. Everytime i thought i had figured it out, i confused myself more. All of my friends have never seen the movie before, so i have no one to discuss it with, nor explain it to me. Therefore, i would greatly appreicate it if someone/anyone can explain this movie to me. I'm so confused. ;D

welcome to the forum, jess. nobody can really just explain it to you... you have to read around, ask questions, add to the discussion, and you will begin to develop your own beliefs and theory on the film. for some of us, it takes months before we have established a solid theory we are comfortable with. that's part of the fun.

Agree... It's like a big puzzle. I've watched the movie several times to look for clues, found things on the site and the other places on the net. Listened to what Kelly has had to say. Talk to people and have heard they're ideas. Next thing you know it just starts to come together. It's definitely one of the funnest movies made.
