Ok, this is my overall standpoint. I want kelly to get money, yeah he can creat all he wants. But I think that the true reason besides the money that he takes so long to do a single movie, is that he works so hard on one. If he had billions of dollars that would only help on adding effects and making the movie better. But that does not mean he will produce one movie each year. He will probably still take his time in producing them.
Anyways that was not supposed to be one of my central focus points in my original discssion. My focal point was that I don't think it would go with DD's kinda like overall theme/mood for it to be a #1 hit. It just had that feeling of fitting in with the cult type of movie. I just wouldn't enjoy it as much if it was a super popular movie that everybody loves. and then I ended my other messege with imagine it like this. "If God was to make miracles each day by thousands, then miracles would not be that special."

To that I'll say, truly loving something is characterized by a desire to share it. You recognize that you don't own it -- that it stands alone, and you feel lucky to play any part at all in its existence.
We don't own Donnie Darko, and it's not healthy to want to corner the market on knowing about it, watching it, etc. Think if it this way: maybe if more people were exposed to it, more people would enjoy it -- and movies like it. And the market would then demand more thoughtful, surprising and heartfelt movies like DD, and fewer of the other, crappier kinds.

"If God was to make miracles each day by thousands, then miracles would not be that special." But dont you think deserve at least a few miracles a year? I dont think richard kelly would be able to flood the market with darkoesque movies if he tried but I could definitely use more

Ok, I hope that more people would enjoy it Providence, but I would not like it if it was just a total outrage sensation and in which the whole world swears they are the number one fan of that movie. It would be great that there was to be more public to enjoy it, but keep it to a limit. I just would enjoy it as much if it was a movie that everybody hails to. It coud surely gain a bit of a bigger audience right now. And maybe slowly more people would be exposed to it and eventually enjoy it and it could become a sensation. But that would have to be in small carefully monitered baby steps, and not just from one day to the other. I mean I think unity is a great thing, but it sickens me if it gets to a certain degree. I would just feel like if everybody lost their individuallity.

Twitch, yes! I am not saying for there to be no miricles, but miricles are more special if they were kept to a certain extent. I know that it would be great if Richard Kelly worked a bit faster. But that only makes me think it is that good of a work that he works so long and puts such effort into it.

It is nice to know that we can appreciate a complex and interesting movie which most people are initially unable/unwilling to decipher.
As for the party Providence, glad your weeks of careful planning was both fun and entertaining. Sounds like it was a real success. They'll be talking about it for at least a a couple of weeks and smiling. A+

I dont thinkhe's ever going torush his movies.....Kelly just isnt like that....I just want him to have the money to fully realize his vision.....that is all.....his main problem isnt that he takes too long to write his movies its just he has to spend so much time negotiating for money

I am saying that there should be more audience = more money for Kelly. But I just would not hope for the movies to become a super universal sensation. I mean I would be happen if maybe one of them did, but not all of them, at least not DD.

I'm sensing a fear of conformism......you musnt think like that.....thats what we expect of us Darko fans....you must be happy if something you like is popular and happy if it is not

I do kinda hope that DD would have a greater public, but I just can't imagine it as a super sensation. I don't mean that it does not have what is neccesary to be one, but it would not go with the style it has. I do support DD's spread into other people. But I doubt it will ever be a huge movie. It is just not meant for general public likeing. Many people will see it and just be like oh wow, maybe confused and just forget about it. But there are those like us that will seek for answeres and a deeper understanding of it. The movie itself is just a concept that average people will not get/understand/grasp. Only very few are actually able to look right through it. I am not trieng to sound like I am greedy or whatever, but it is just a semi-what fact/truth.

As for the party Providence, glad your weeks of careful planning was both fun and entertaining. Sounds like it was a real success. A+ Thanks J -- I got some great feedback from the crew on the event. I certainly had a great time planning, executing and attending it ... and I think that's the key to satisfaction. And Twitch, excellent point when you said, "....you must be happy if something you like is popular and happy if it is not." That is healthy perspective. I get scared when people start making generalities about what "average" do and what "special" (read: smart) people do ... because, inevitably, those comparisons always put the speaker on the "smart people" side. If you're truly smart, you won't need to make a distinction like, "well, average people just don't get it, and because I do, I'm special -- and I derive some affirmation out of that." Just be smart, open and like what you like. Ultimately, there's no one out there to impress: not even yourself. Life's too short for affectation.

You know portal, you are semi-right. (in my opinion) I am never said smart people. You may never know, maybe I am a "slow" person. I never also said that only those "special" people to enjoy it. Everybody can enjoy it, but it is more probable that those who really understand it are ussually those who truly understand it. I mean by average people not "dum" people. I know that you did not say that directly. Let me restate it like this, a great majority of the people that would be randomly chosen to view it, would not really take it to a deeper extent. It wouold be treated as just another movie. Maybe that is my fear, the movie being treated as just another movie. It is acutally very few who indepth search it to look for answeres and dissect it. It also I guess makes you someone feel special in a way. Just compare it to having X-ray vision or something. If few people have it, you will feel special and be recognized. Yet if everybody had X-ray vision, it would not be such of a special gift anymore. I know this must sound like I am greedy and want to be the better than everybody, which I do wish not to be the normal/average person, but not neccesarily best person. I think that is another of my fears, being "normal" and "average". and I know that that statement of "....you must be happy if something you like is popular and happy if it is not." sounds like the correct thing to do, but unfortunatly the people emotions don't work like that. There is not just good and bad, black and white. There are shades of grays other just weired mixtures. I think that would just be an act of hypocrysy thinking yeah "pure and good and yeah the world salvation, I'm impacable, my soul is as white as a cloud." I am not saying it is not possible, it is rather difficult though, but I am not saying either that you should give in into absulute sin, just try to keep your life balanced. It's kinda like communism, it is just great theory, and was made with no intention of evil, contrary, the idea was concived hoping to make the world a better place, yet it remains good only on paper and words. People will always have differences and differences are positive. Everybody is different and everybody has their defects and abilities. Nobody is perfect. Difference is just all part of evolution. We might someday become materially equal in a far distant future, but it will be impossible to equalize the human mind/emotions. I guess if this is a problem in me, it might also be traced back into my beliefs. I am born catholic, and I consider myself faithful to the catholic church, but there are somethings I dissagree with the church and I dont' think that makes me less of a catholic. I guess you can kind of say I have my catholic base with a quaker view. I also find myself in a sort of divine truth. I enjoy studieng other religions, and I find so many patterns between the beliefs themselves. I guess I have a henotheistic view, I do not negate the extistance of all the other god/goddess/deity. I actually beilive that all the religions of the world are all acutally one religion from different viewpoints. I see it as a giant spiritual jig-saw puzzle and I am trieng to find all the pieces to put together. I belive that somehow all the belifes intertwine and have this sort of special relationship. I also consider myself a man of science, and I include science in this giant puzzle, which I think it will fill in those tiny gaps or might even be big pieces in the large picture. I of coarse do not think that what I think is the absolute truth and that everybody will folow it. For example I beilive in reincarnation and karma, but yet I belive in hell and heaven too. I belive that you live here and then you go to either heaven or hell or purgatory when you die depending on your carma. Then you live a lifetime whereever you are and then you are reborn into another being on earth still depending on your karma of your past life. I just think my mind is just a complicated organ and it is just trieng to digest everything. I would not be able to explain everything that is in it on words. I can feel the expresions and thaughts but maybe they are not meant to be recorded yet. Not yet. Someday when I have the truth. Someday. Maybe not in this life, but someday.

Trying too hard to not be part of the crowd is no better than trying too hard to be part of the crowd.....yes I know no one is perfect but it is something you might want to work on

But I am not trieng to escape from not being in the "crowd", I am trieng to stay out of the "crowd". Of coarse I am not looking for rejection, but I am not looking for admission either. And I think that "crowd" that everybody seems to wish admitance into does not really exits.I think that everybody is inside a different type of "group" by just the fact of being different. It is I belive sadening that many still try and become part of that "crowd" without realising they are part of different one already. I just want to make sure I made it clear that I am not going like "yeah revive the caste system, everybody is different, we are not equall, there is no rule, sin is a satisfaction" thing, but I am not going like "yeah, we can become a peacefull world full of flowers and rainbows where no evil exists and there are fluffy white bunny rabbits and we all live equally and peacfully ever after". We Humans are so complicated, we can not really be left freely without law because we will become a savage self ruled planet yet we must not be under strict and severe pressure, because we will crack and rebel. We are in a way like teenagers, not adults yet but not children. But I guess it would be more like not gods yet, but not animals. By that I am not trieng to place animals under for I am an animal lover and animals and I think they should be respected. You know, I could keep on going for ever and ever with my theries about humans and god and all, but to make it short. I am very glad, that adam and eve ate off that forbidden fruit of knowledge. Eventhough it caused our expelsion, if they had not touched that fruit, we would be like animals, no real sense of what is happening and not being able to distiguish between good and evil. We would be knowlegeless. I think what God really feared in us eating that fruit, was that we would become too much like him. We were already in his shape, we just needed the internal knowledge. So someday when the secrets are revealed, we will be like him. Someday. We will be albe to look at good in the eye leveled. Of coarse it will take time and in order to become part of this stage you will need to have proven their I do not know how to explain it, but don't expect everybody to turn into god at once. It would be total chaos if we were all suddenly to have god-like powers. We are just not ready yet. Which I could go on and keep on talking about aliens and then turn into E.S.P. and then go into all this freaky stuff, but I will avoid. that and end this post now.
