Yeah, I've seen those before, pretty cool. This is the main thing I've been working on recently: I've been getting a lot of help with the anatomy, so that'll be heavily reworked in the next few days, but I'm pretty happy with the face, so besides color, that'll stay.

^very good. you continue to surprise and re-educate w/the things you can do on the computer; "real" drawing is what it looks like. looking forward to more views as the work progresses...

Not the most polished work I've seen, but seriously low-brow, and I love low-brow.

Where the hell do you find this stuff? I don't even find this stuff, and I find stuff I don't care to find as it is.

I just can't believe that these were the first people to come up with the idea!
Would you say it was low-brow?
;-)
I found the book in a store first and obviously was intrigued. There were two sisters in high school and they were ALWAYS talking about poop. They knew everything about it. They would cut out ads from a store called Nolan's Bars, Stools and Dinettes and black out the words 'Bars' and 'Dinettes' so that all of the descriptions were focused on 'stool's'
So the ad would read; We have stools in every shape, size and color! These stools are imported from...
you get the idea
Their favorite prank phone call was to call someone to tell them "Your cat has been defecating on my lawn"
When the person would protest and ask 'How do you know it was my cat?" They would quip "I witnessed the defecation" These girls were a hoot. Which reminds me... We would also go to one graveyard that had palm trees that owls liked to hang out in. We would pick up the pellets from under the tree and see what they had eaten since they don't really digest much, they just regurgitate most of it. I dunno...maybe this was too much information???

oh my!
I e-mailed the link to some people and this was my first response
"What an inspiration. Seriously! I thought I was constipated this morning and halfway thru the gallery I got the urge. Thank you. "
LOL

Well, I'm not sure that would be lowbrow...maybe it would be...lowbrow assemblage? Still though, you're insane by association with this.

I'm doing an art GCSE. Do any of you more learned artists have any general advice you could give me?

Agnes Montgomery - www.agnesmontgomery.com/An interesting collection of collages made using "found paper, small scissors and a magnifying lamp". Original insights into different cultures or childish Pritt-stick inspired dreams? ;D apologies for the double post

I'm doing an art GCSE. Do any of you more learned artists have any general advice you could give me? Well, the two biggies are probably practice and draw what you see. Lose all those conceptions of how something should look and draw it as it does. This of course requires a reference, and there is no shame in referencing. Most artists use a variety of references for creating finished work, but it's just a given that you use them for studies and training. Apart from that, using construction lines and creating primitive shapes to form the basis and volumes for your objects and people can be very helpful for just about everything you're doing.
