yeah i think im probably depressed... not cause of the movie so please dont shoot me but the movie makes you think about yourself... i guess im more like donnie than i thought... strangely enough i dont feel ashamed sharing my feelings with all you people here... Don't worry I've always been depressed but this movie just makes me crazy and even more depressed. Its cool that you share your thoughts and feelings. Sharing them with other normal people just doesn't make sense. So why not share it with other people who understand you? But the movie has an effect on people thats so hard to explain. For me i just cry spontaneously sometimes and at night wait for a bunny to visit me. lol. Oh hey Gretchen, you're not alone. Im a chick too just trying to make sense of this mad world. I bet we do have special powers. I think so. lol.

Yeah, it amazing how deep this movie makes you think and that ending adds a touch of deppression and it's hard to hide or feel ashamed of anything in this site. Yes, exactly. After Gretchen waved, and the credits music just blasted in. I was like "..." It was the oddest feeling. I've never had a film do that to me.

The thing is that most movies just spoon feed you the facts and info, but DD requires a higher level of mental processing, I think that was that odd feeling you had at the end that not many movies deliver...

The reason why this movie is so depressing is not that it makes you think of yourself but how mediocre our society is. It is the most intelligent that are persecuted the most, or that is my thought. We are taught at such an early age to fit in. If you are like me i was told many times throughout school how if i would just "apply myself" (kiss butt) that I would do so much better. I got in trouble for questioning authority. Many times this movie drew my attention to the fact that our education system is catered towards the masses. I feel that the reason why this movie has spoken to many people on this web site is that we are introspective people, which is very uncommon to much of the population. I personally want to understand what I am feeling and why. As I am trying to grasp this movie and how is speaks to me I am very open to other peoples interpretations of how it speaks to them. I think we can all say that it is such a comlex and deep movie to even comprehend and much less put in words. Therefore we must all allow for misinterpretations of anothers thoughts and even our own. I know after watching this movie the amount of emotions and thoughts in me are very powerful to sort out so I am thinking that maybe others feel this way too. Therefore, don't judge others on their remarks, they are trying to sort it out just like you.

The film dosen't make me 'depressed' in any way, it makes me reflect.

I did not find it depressing but I did find it very compelling. It made me think about the choices that each of us makes and why. It made me think about unconditional love. It made me think; Damn, there was a lot of good music in the 80's. :-)

Damn, there was a lot of good music in the 80's. :-) Yup... I wish I'd been into music when I was a kid, lol. But seriously though, I found it very easy to sympathise with Donnie and all the other people affected by his actions (except Jim Cunningham... no sympathy there. ). And that scene where Donnie says "How does it feel to have a whacko for a son" was really familiar to me. This one time, after my parents found out that I was seeing a psychologist (I'd been hiding it from them) my mum came into my room and sat almost like in that scene... Except I was trying to look busy so she'd go away, lol. Anyways.... Sorry I rambled on a bit there. I do that from time to time.
