There's these videos I bought that were really helpful. Jst 9 installments of 9.99. Cunning Vision I think they were.....
Jim uses that line as he is being lead away by police to the patrol car.

Umm, that was, umm. Helpfull I guess to know. Getting out of topic, it is weired but while I was watching DD for my first time, for some reason I was thinking all of these events were like alien controlled. I thouhgt they dealt somehow with extraterrestials or something. Maybe Frank was an alien or I don't know, but it was freaky and kinda scary the first time I saw it.

Uduh, I know he is younger than 21, but I was trieng to more specifically find his age. I think he is either 14 or 15, or is supposed to be in the movie. Perhaps....but if hes a freshman and he was held back he could easily be 16 or 17

Donnie drives Gretchen to the ridge, but for the rest of the movie he is driven by his mom and dad to various places. Perhaps it is most likely that he is 15 and able to drive, but doesn't usually drive and most often rides his bike.

he is unable to drive... legally.
he tells gretchen that he can't drive til he's 21 during the scene when he walks her home... elizabeth must be about 18 or 19, since she is taking a year off before harvard. i think it's safe to assume donnie is about 15 or 16.

I'd say at least 16 and perhaps as much as 17 because he's a freshman and he got held back but it seems a bit pointless to debate a trivial issue that we'll never really know

Would every body stop it with the car thing! We know he is appearantly under 21 because he can't drive legally(because he got held back). Know what we have to find out is what age was he exactly. The sister must be either 19 or 20 because she took of a year and is going to Harvard, unless she graduated early or something which I doubt. So all we are for sure right now is he might be somewhere between 14 and maybe 17. I think he is a freshman. I am not sure where I am getting that from. I think I randomly recall it from somewher in the movie. I think that the passage that the Ms. Pomrey "It was as though this plan had been with him all his life, pondered through the seasons, now in his 15th year crystallized with the pain of puberty.” I think that this suggests that he might be around 15 (which makes sense if he was a sophmore and was born after August) and foreshadows kinda Donnies plan that he is to carry out etc.... Which adds to the fact that nothing in this movie seems to be a coincidence and that everything happens for a reason or porpuse. (even the deleted car/videogame scene)

Everybody that has the DVD at home, could you please watch it when you have time to look for clues for this answere. I or We would be utmost gratefull to your findings. I would if I owend it myself, but unfortunatly I don't and all the times I watch it I check it out of Block Buster and end up returning it months late. Which is weired because it is the only copy left in that Block Buster because all of the other ones were stolen.

Umm, I am trieng to set a certain pathway or set of facts we know that way it would be esier to find his age. People were just saying yes the car yeah he can't drive. He doesn't even look older than maybe 19 in the movie! I am sorry but the whole thing that ties me up and gets me frustrated is the fact that I don't have the movie. If I did I would gladly find it out myself.

I'm sorry I have not ever heard of that expression, but I can probably guess what it actually means. I am sorry I really have not wanted to irritate anyone. (hormones faults) I really don't notice how it can irritate anybody. I guess my friends problems are affecting me after all. I recently discovered my friend is a cutter and that is horrible and I am trieng really hard to help him. But sorry if i seemed grumpy I kinda get caried away at times.
