Oh, sorry. I though you were telling me. You see that is one more reason why we need personal l reply buttons to reply to that messege only. People tend to get confused!

Since people aren't sure what you're trying to do with regard to "personal reply buttons," Madri, you might consider checking the Proboards FAQ or writing to their customer service address with your question ...

How do you get there to this customer service FAQ thingy? There's a "Help" button in the nav bar at the top (the one with a white question mark in a blue circle next to it). I'd start there.

The question, according to the first release with director's and Jake's commentary is not why his death is important but rather why he died. (haven't seen the director's cut and can not comment on that)
Kelly proposes two things, 1)Frank's honking gave Donnie time to move away from danger, but he decided not to or 2) Donnie didn't hear the honking or anticipate the associated danger.
The deleted scenes of th arcade game opens the possibility that Donnie's memories of the honking etc. are "slipping away" and he might not know to move. But as noted above, Kelly leaves both possiblities open.
Note: The name of the ship that rescued the survivors of the Titanic was named the Carpathia. And what was the name of the ridge on which Donnie awoke at the beginning of the film??????? and the first scone of the soundtrack? The idea being that he was a rescuer, and self sacrifice wasn't necessary.

A very intriguing suggestion, Josh, regarding the song name. I believe the hilltop is named in the movie, though, and not as "Carpathian Ridge." Can anyone help verify/deny?
Here's an alternate perspective: I did a quick search on Google, which revealed Carpathia as a European region near Poland. With the song title including a topographical element (ridge), it may be that the composer chose the song name in reference to the geography and not the boat.
But the parallel is a compelling one, for certain. Thanks for sharing it -- I for one will be noodling it ...

Found a site with Michael Andrews interview and Carpathian Ridge. www.cdbaby.com/cd/donniedarkoAlso tried to see if there was a Carpathian ridge listed as a geographical landmark in Virginia. Since Kelly apparently grew up in Virginia I thought it might be a location he had been to or knew of in Virginia. No dice. The only association between Virginia and the european Carpathian Ridge is in the sense of the Carpathian Mountain chain is similar to the Blue Ridge mountain chains that travel through Virginia? The interview doesn't say who decided on the name or why. I can see why the view was chosen, but still pondering the importance of the name.
