I love youtube for the fact I can watch music video's I haven't seen in 10 years, it's great...but I also find it very sad that people can post anything, it's worse than somebody telling their life story through a blog. Here's my youtube contribution though... youtube.com/watch?v=C-MdOZtAKpc...All hail Harmony Korine

This guy is why I am the_pretender and linda-paloma it's Jackson Browne and ever since I saw him in '78 he gives me goosebumps (in a good way) www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA5w6KHfPPY&search=Jackson%20BrowneHe writes great songs my favorite lyrics are from The Only Child "and remember to be kind when the pain of another will serve you to remind that there are those who feel themselves exiled on whom the fortune has never smiled and upon whose life the heartache has been piled" ~katie~

Speaking of youtube, what does everybody think of the whole Lonelygirl15 phenomena? I think it's stupid but the fact they fooled that many people is an achievement. The girl has even become famous from it

Omni, Do you think you would have fallen for it...I am curious if I would have... I am sure that people feel manipulated by it if they cared about her. I guess I am just curious what their motives were.

I guess I am just curious what their motives were. I doubt it, she seemed a little too colourful to me. The funny thing is, she claims she's received a lot of friendly e-mails since she came out with her real identity. I can see the wheels in Hollywood turning to use her hype now...

I think it's a reminder to me that we've finally come face-to-face with the truth of "reality": it's a story we tell one another. The distinction between fiction and fact, especially in mass media, has always been this blurred -- it's just taken us this long for our perspectives to catch up ... that is, for us to see that everything's driven by an agenda, everyone who's on stage is there to act, and we all filter the stories we tell through our own experiences and our expectation of how being the storyteller will change our identity for the listeners.
Purity of fact's always been an illusion. Even people portraying themselves are acting a role.

Omni, have you heard anywhere what the motive was? I still can't figure it out. How odd to think that it might be beneficial to start someone off in 'the business' with a role like that.
Provi,
Crap...I was just thinking the same thing yesterday about myself. I am constantly judging myself, constantly... Trying to be the person I want to be, who is always someone I am not.
It's so much harder when you absolutely don't have any acting skills and I am totally serious about this.
Being someone who always wears their emotions on their sleeve is hard. There is a time when they are out there for everyone to see. Sometimes leaving myself vulnerable to others reactions. For example, having been bullied, I am extremely sensitive to bullying... So now you have a pretty shy person who feels as tho they have to stand up to bullying and who doesn't always feel strong enough to do so but insists on doing it anyway. It comes out all emotional instead of well thought out and planned. I need an actors ability to at least appear composed! It happened just the other day when folks at work were talking out loud about someone behind their back, who happens to be a dear friend of mine. I walked over to where the bad mouthers were and said "Oh...so and so isn't here today.... figures" One bad mouther says "What's that supposed to mean?" I replied "Well I can hear you bad mouthing him all the way over there"
It sounds good on paper but I was shaking just the same.
Then I think back and realize that I really didn't even resolve anything which is what I really would like to have done based on the role that I would like myself to play in this lifetime.

Whoa -- what in the world did I do for someone to smite me?
If you took off a karma point, please let me know what the behavior was that caused you to do so. A PM is fine if you'd rather not post publicly.

:-(
That is why those things bother me... not the exalting but the smiting. Now watch me go down to -1 again
It is one of the reasons I quit and closed up my lindapaloma_thepretender account It reminds me of bullying and I don't like it
