Everyone knows the Aussies all surf while barbequeing shrimps and wearing hats with corks on. You also have Kangaroos that can talk, but only when small boys, usually named 'Timmy', are stuck down wells/old mine shafts. It's also perfectly true that as a Brit, I have bad teeth, live in a castle where I am served tea hourly by a butler named 'Jeeves', and my favourite passtime is to play Croquet in a bowler hat and a tweed suit.

ehhh. I consider myself a rude and arrogant american, so yeah. The stereotype is true. lol. ;D j/k
Well since we're on the topic of fav. books. My fav. books are by the author Patricia Cornwell.
Does anyone know her? Well I love the Kay Scarpetta series. Those books are exhilirating. Well I recommend her books to anyone. ;D

There are rude and arrogant members of every nation. And there are stereotypes because what we don't know, we extrapolate or look for easy shorthand.
See also: I am not fat, poorly educated or on welfare. Riots are not raging on my block. I can appreciate a soccer -- er, "football" -- game.
And I care very much both about our country's responsibilities to the rest of the globe, and about being thoughtful of other people's cultures.

How is a question to you about a very favorite author of mine, in a favorite books thread, showing you 'no respect'? Sometimes people who ask if you know this or that or who, are trying to make a connection, trying to keep the conversation going. This is not a sign of disrespect. IMHO
