The plane never crashes - it is Donnie's 'powers' that remove the engine in the first place, and that only happnend in universe A (or the 'Tangent Universe')
Even IF Sam got on the plane in the Primary Universe there is no reason it would crash.
IMO the cinema scene in S.Darko would suggest she didn't participate in the dancing after Donnies death.
Apart from that S.Darko follows the same rules as DD (or tries to). NB There are two nested tangent universes though (nice idea, clumsily done).
Much of the movie seems pointless to be honest - as it is not obvious why the events of the movie culminate as they do, whereas in DD everything, no matter how random or nihilistic had a reason - focusing on Donnie returning the 'Artifact'
| And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, the sky is the limit!
